Why We Moved SIGNAL HOUSE Into a Power Plant

A decommissioned turbine hall, 11,000 square metres of concrete and one very large crane. Here’s why Kraftwerk Berlin is the only room big enough for 2027.

Why We Moved SIGNAL HOUSE Into a Power Plant

When we started scouting venues for 2027, we had one rule: the room should feel like a signal. Kraftwerk Berlin — a decommissioned heating plant in Mitte — hums even when it’s empty. Its turbine hall is 100 metres long, 30 metres high and wrapped in raw concrete that swallows light and throws back sound.

A building that listens

Every stage at SIGNAL HOUSE is designed around the architecture instead of against it. The Main Hall sits under the original crane gantry. The Turbine stage uses the old control room as its backdrop. The Studio lives in a former coal bunker, lit entirely from below.

Built for 2,400 people — and for quiet

Big rooms can be exhausting. So we’ve added a silent floor, a garden courtyard and a no-laptop zone for the hallway conversations that make a conference worth the trip.
